Born from the black soil of mid-Minnesota, the fabricated steel sculptures of Sam Spiczka are stark testaments to a place where death is cultivated as readily as new life. Nearly three dozen large-scale pieces are presented, many seen for the very first time. Inspired by natural bone forms, rural technology, and geometric structure, Spiczka has produced an unsettling body of work that is both modern and intensely primal, public yet deeply personal. Crafted with care and sensitivity, the work evokes a vulnerability that is disarming. In their terrifying grace, these sculptures are tributes to Nature, a fundamentally unfathomable force.

In less than a decade Spiczka has launched a career that has won him local, regional, and national attention. The artist's award-winning sculptures can be found in public and private collections across the United States.
