Stainless steel, Baltic-birch, Polyethelene, 100w Flourescent coil bulb
This piece was basicly a "ready made". The tube itself is 12 ga. stainless steel that was donated to the school (MCAD) by a local sculptor. I built a switch assembly to resemble an actual shut-off valve. Turning the valve wheel a couple of turns left or right flips a toggle switch on and off. The window for the light was cut out of the side of the tube with an angle grinder, & a polyethelene sheet was fitted to help diffuse the light. Ebonized Baltic-Birch was used to make the "gaskets" capping the ends of the pipe.
