6 3/4" h x 4 1/4" w x 1 3/4" deep, wood, mica, lambskin vellum, acrylic
This is a new(ongoing) series exploring death, resurrection, hope, and other elements of Christian Faith. The use of lambskin vellum in most of the pieces connects the work to different aspects of Jesus.
"Tomb of Self" began as Christ's tomb, mica flakes depicting the hope in His resurrection. It then became an inward reflection (and literal reflection if viewer stands directly in front of glass) of life after death through faith. The addition of a veined piece of lambskin vellum is like a beating heart of life in that Christian faith - Christ's and our's.
