Ju-Xian, is an ancient Chinese city whose name means "chrysanthemum city". This flower was introduced to Japan around the 8th century A.D. & the Emperor adopted the chrysanthemum as his official seal. There is a 'Festival of Happiness" in Japan which celebrates this lovely flower. It was brought to Europe in the 17th century. Linnaeus (botanist), named it for the Greek prefix 'Chrys' which means 'golden' (the color of the original flower) & 'anthemon' meaning 'flower'. The flower is called Oogiku in Japanese meaning big Chrysanthemum. This is a lovely, large bag with a gorgeous interior fabric base continuing the Chrysanthemum theme.
