Statement

This project invited Art Shanty visitors to symbolically create their own “message in a bottle”, or in this case a “ball” to cast out on Medicine Lake over a two day period. Participants designed drawings, submitted personal letters and statements, brought tokens and wishes to be cast adrift for another participant to find and take with them. On site, storytelling was engaged as an entry point for meditating on the act of faith and longing involved in the process of letting go or casting adrift one’s labor, resources and hopes for recompense.
