My father was a painter who did many other kinds of arts too. To be in the same Art Exhibition with my father is such a honor and a joy. My father Merrritt Gamache died when I was 15 years old. This group show is a once in a lifetime wonderful opportunity for me and my father to be together in this incredible Art Show.
In my image BOTH SIDES NOW is a painting my father did of me in 4th grade in my school uniform. In addition, a watercolor self-portrait he did while serving in Italy in world war 11. Also a portrait of my mother.
Merritt made sculptures. Recycled cans and bottles into Candelabras. He would have parties in the 1960’S, and used them as party favors. The A1 sauce bottles were my favorite ones. Not all saw the Art in them. I grew up loving Photography. The hand colored photograph is a self-portrait of my father. The camera was set up with a long exposure. It is all him, the photograph was not doctored. I was very inspired by my father’s photograph to make my bronze masks. The Art on the left side, is the Art I am doing now. Also a watercolor portrait of my family with the hopes of another creative generation. In the center is my self-portrait pregnant with my first born pondering the future.

Creative Blood reception at Altered Aesthetics

By Bethany Onsgard

Things always seem to “run in the family.” Big noses, bad style, the urge to tell bad jokes. Luckily for us, there are also more aesthetically pleasing things being passed down through generations.
Creative Blood, the new exhibit at Altered Aesthetics, opens tomorrow (March 6) with a public reception. The exhibit showcases groups of work created by family members, including pieces by Margaret M. Gamache. This is a little bit more advanced than the childhood art projects you embarked on with your brothers and sisters.
All exhibits at Altered Aesthetics are free.
Reception: 7-10 p.m.
