The translation of the Latin phrase "Mulier Similis Felis Est" is "A Woman Is Like A Cat". The association is mostly formalistic, not idealogical, as the orientation of the model depicted reminded me strongly of a sleeping cat. This work won the Juror's award for pastels/drawings at the 2003 Minnesota State Fair Art Exhibition. The drawing media is hard pastel on Strathmore 500 Bristol and the frame is maple with ebony details.
