Statement

All my life I've remained fond of this view along Lake Harriet.  It comes at that point when, if you are a child bravely walking all around the lake, your legs are just about ready for a break, and you can almost taste the ice cream cone you'll get at the pavillion if you're lucky!  Though this shows the newer building, this painting is a reminiscence. As I was painting it, a boy caught a bass right in front of me, and proudly called his buddies to brag about it in an Asian language!  I was sorely tempted to try to include him...but before long, he let the fish go, packed up & left. It reminded me of many fishing trips with my dad & brothers on Minnesota lakes.

I remained to try to catch the gorgeous color of the shaded water & cloud reflections.
