Along the Cannon River Valley in Minnesota, there are still old farms like this, complete with laughing pigs in the doorway and a windmill overhead! i am trying to evoke the stories, the weathered history of this edifice, looming out of the shade with a stone foundation and a classy "cupola" on top.

(stay tuned for a portrait of the pigs that were observing me as I admired their home; Florence & Louise! I had my students work on them as a study in pastel class...)
