Burnsville Visual Art Society’s Art Fete to be held at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center
March 18, 2009 – Burnsville, MN –
The Burnsville Visual Arts Society (BVAS) will hold its popular annual juried art show Art Fete at the new Burnsville Performing Arts Center. The mission of Art Fete is to support local emerging and professional artists and provide them with the opportunity to exhibit and sell their artwork in a public venue. This year’s eclectic exhibit will feature the artwork of over 30 BVAS artist members. Awards for this competition are sponsored by area businesses and the Burnsville Visual Arts Society in support of the visual arts in the community.
The free opening reception and awards ceremony for Art Fete will be held at the Burnsville Performing Art Center’s beautiful 2,000 square foot art gallery on Thursday, April 16, from 6 – 9 pm. Appetizers will be provided by Chateau Lamothe, piano music will be provided by Eddie Thorp, and the artists will be on hand to discuss their work. Awards will be presented at 7 pm by Mayor Elizabeth Kautz for Best of Show, Award of Excellence, Award of Merit, and Honorable Mention in the following genres: oil/acrylic, sculpture, photography, drawing/pastels, assorted, and watercolor. Judges this year are; Rachel Daly Flentje, Exhibition Director at the Bloomington Art Center, David Feinberg, Professor of Art at the University of Minnesota, and Howard Christopherson, Photographer and owner of ICEBOX Quality Framing and Gallery.
