Statement

Lake Country Pastel Society’s “A Touch of Red”
January 12, 2010 – Burnsville, MN –
Lake Country Pastel Society (LCPS) and the Burnsville Performing Arts Center (BPAC) are proud to present the new exhibit A Touch of Red on display in the BPAC art gallery. A Touch of Red is a LCPS members-only exhibit. Over sixty pieces on display will include a wide range of artwork using the medium of pastels and featuring the color red to celebrate the romantic month of February. Accomplished watercolor artist Doug Lew will be the judge for A Touch of Red. The public is also invited to vote for their favorite piece of art.
The free public opening reception for A Touch of Red will be held at the Burnsville Performing Art Center’s beautiful 2,000 square foot art gallery on Wednesday, January 20 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Judges comments and awards will be distributed at 7:00 p.m. Artists will be on hand to discuss their artwork, and complimentary appetizers from Special Events Midwest Catering and Events will be available.

BPAC free, public gallery hours: Thursday and Friday 1:00 to 5:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Opening Reception: Wednesday, January 20 – 6:00 to 9:00 pm, FREE

Lake Country Pastel Society
The Lake Country Pastel Society (LCPS) seeks to unite artists interested in the pastel medium and to serve their needs by encouraging artistic growth and development through education and sharing. LCPS also works to create public awareness of pastel as a unique and beautiful art form. LCPS’ members consist of amateur and professional artists. LCPS’ focus is the medium of pastel, a pure pigment used in making all fine art paints. Pastel is the most permanent of all media when applied to a permanent ground and properly framed. There is no oil to cause darkening or cracking, nor other substances or mediums to cause fading or blistering. Pastels from the 16th century exist today, as fresh and alive as the day they were painted!
