In the Shelter of Words begins its journey out into the world with an opening at Altered Esthetics Gallery April 2 from 7:00 - 10:00 pm.
Come join us in experiencing this multi-media art installation created by at risk youth.
The project In the Shelter of Words is based on artistic expression in the context of economic hardship andunstable home situations. The students at Face to Face Academy in St Paul are young people in crisis. They may be homeless, neglected or abused, have a mental illness, a chemical dependency, or are parenting. They live at or below poverty level. SafeZone is a place where homeless youth feel welcomed. The purpose of the shelter is two fold: to empower at risk youth with creative self-expression and literacy development and to raise awareness of the challenges of youth and poverty
