An installation based on the concept of how physical spaces contain, require and ignore us all at the same time, how we are trapped in structure and largely ignore the phenomena. This piece was made at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and is a hollow scale model of the main gallery hallway, modeled to scale of an obscure architectural element, in this case a rectangular piece of diamond plated steel drain cover, hence the title 1:.189 the ratio used to convert the model. Other traits of the space have been represented as an inverted obstruction of space (the four smaller plaster rectangles) and finally a live video delay and a found sound loop are played and films both the viewer, the structure, and itself, creating an "infinite loop" through a projection on the surface of the plaster wall. This piece was made in collaboration with fellow MCAD student Matthew Reimers.
