Acrylic on canvas, "20" x 20"; 2012
Canoeing is one way my husband and I relax away from technology and stressors of the human world. This river landing is a favorite we return to again and again during all-too brief summers in Minnesota, a quiet place of leopard frogs and dragonflies darting about, and redwing blackbirds warbling to each other. Thoughts of this place evoke pleasant trips up the river engaging our muscles to stroke the fertile waters with our paddles, the warmth of blue skies overhead, and the cocoon of reeds around us. I wanted to preserve these thoughts for every month of the year.
My "Canoe" painting sold last night at River Walk Artists' Open House. The purchaser, a mature Canadian gentleman, bought it for his son's 50th birthday gift. The two have been ardent canoeists together. What a lovely thought, eh? TMJ, 05/10/13
