This is the first large furniture piece I've done since building my shop at the beginning of the year. It is constructed of maple, tiger maple veneer, mahogany, ebony, glass and birch plywood. The topcoat is nitrocellulose lacquer and the maple and mahogany parts are colored with water-based dyes.
The project took about 6 months working on the weekends (about 600 hours) and required 8 different bent forms. The top is veneered in a radial pattern in beautiful tiger maple purchased from B&B Rare Woods. The side drawers are the pocket type and all the pulls are hand-carved in ebony.
