Statement

The first of two photographic projects to emerge out of a seven week, solo meditation retreat, in a remote cabin in Southwestern Colorado during the hot and firey summer of 2003. All of the photographs in the series were taken during the retreat in the afternoon and evening hours.

Views of the Universe (are) ... color photographs depicting a monochromatic field of a cloudless, blue sky. The two-dimensional quality of the photographs coupled with their abstract portrayal of flat sky subverts the reality of the subject’s extreme depth.
