Statement

Columbia Park is a Neighborhood Gateway project that I did in collaboration with Jeffrey Kalstrom. We used the theme of the railway that connected the wheat farms of the prairie with the mills of the city. We each designed and built various elements of the park--raised concrete garden beds for a community garden; a railroad-style water tower to water those garden beds; a circular viewing bench and plaza with bronze insets of wheat ears and a millstone at its center; a timber-framed picnic shelter; crushed limestone circular pathways. This is the Wheat Bench, one of the amenities I did.
