Statement

The Sleepers is an extended body of work that takes many forms. There are about 30 figures in fired unglazed clay; some are colored with scarlet dust, some are not. They sleep in various shallow basins, some on tripods, some not. They derive from what I read about the burial practices 10,000 years ago at Catal Huyuk, a Neolithic town in Turkey.
