"Lover" is a take off of the cliché “love is a four-letter word.” It is also made to censor the physical act rather than the emotion alluded to by the title. It was made to have an impressive scale that would be imposing on the space and unavoidable to those who may be uncomfortable with its allusions. It was designed to have a finish that refers to its construction and hides no flaws. While it does not spell out a curse word, a connection is made in the viewer’s mind as to what it might censor. It was always my intention to have this piece be slightly juvenile, while stretching the boundaries of propriety and social acceptance.
