Charcoal on paper, 5'x7'
These charcoal drawings generally have a cartographic theme, at least leaning towards a statement on the nature of places. This one was made before the trouble in New Orleans. These few intirests led me here: The use of reflecting pools in fancy gardens to create illusion of space and balance compositions, The dreamlike fragility of reflections in water, the overpowering presence of rectangular grids in all scales of urban architecture, and passing by a block party one summer day in Chicago, where somebody had opened a fire-hydrant so all the kids could play in the flooded street.
