metal cage, cast paper, ink, plaster, 2005
I was born in a dirty, crowded, noisy place. I was a racer. When I broke my arm, they left me for dead.
I wound up at the Dodge Nature Center where I lived in a small dirty cage on top of a file cabinet in an office. I couldn’t move without bumping into things like my water dish, so it was left empty most of the time. I lived on salted cocktail nuts. It was like being trapped with no drinks at the worst office party that never ends.
After over a year, someone heard my cry and now I fly. Who knew.
