Statement

Minneapolis MN – March 14, 2006 – Camden Civic Theatre (CCT) is pleased to announce their Spring Production, The Good Doctor by Neil Simon. After weeks of planning and preparation, the company has aligned all the elements of production to bring live theatre to Camden.

Neil Simon’s The Good Doctor is a vaudevillian tribute to the flaws of human nature. A series of quirky scenes the show is ripe with dark humor and philosophical whimsy. With “the Writer” as the guide, audiences are introduced to an interlocking stock of characters as real as they are outrageous. From a sneezing minion who only wants to please his superiors to a scheming Don Juan who lets others do his work, what the people who inhabit Simon’s scenes share in common are their quick wits and a tendency to be their own worst enemy. The Good Doctor turns the mirror on the audience and invites them to think about the social interactions that make people trip over their own feet.

The production will feature talented actors and theatre technicians from Camden as well as other North neighborhoods.

“This really is a community effort,” says Artistic Director, Jeff Redman. “We’re utilizing Creekview Community Center in the north, Victory Lutheran Church in Victory, we are going to be seeking sponsors from all businesses in Camden, and with numerous people in Camden already wanting to audition we are achieving our goal. With Our Neighborhood Works (ONW) as our financial agent, we are on our way to becoming an established non-profit theatre in Camden.”

Performances will be held at the Creekview Community Center the first 2 weekends in June; June 2, 3, 9 &10th. All performances will begin at 7:00, which will allow patrons to visit one of Camden’s fine restaurants for an after show dessert or drink.

Ticket prices will be $7.00, with $5.00 Senior and student rates.
