Michelangelo's Adam
Pencil on Eggshell; 10/30/93
Aprox. 2'' in height
This is one of my earlier drawings on eggshell. Adam is flanked on both sides by Ignudo, and reaches upwards towards the hand of God. As the composition evolved and became altered as a consequence of transposing a flat image onto the curved surface of the egg, Adam reaches towards the hand of the God who is seperating the darkness from the light, not the one who is extending His hand to bestow the spark of life to man.
