I am a queer, black, multiracial woman living and working in Saint Paul, MN. My artistic background is in painting, drawing, and ceramic sculpture. My current artistic practice focuses on painting in the medium of ink wash on paper.
My work explores the borders we create and manufacture between and within ourselves. It is an exploration of the inevitability and necessity of the dissolution of these borders.
My work is process driven. Water and ink combine to create bodies of liquid, islands of pigment. Borders are defined in ink and dissolved by water.
We, as humans, often attempt to control our inner and outer worlds, each other. We build borders; separating ourselves, partitioning our world.
My work seeks to expose the innate fallibility of these borders, their absurdity, their destructive, archaic nature.
